International Paper’s Packaging Business in No. America Initiates Changes

Late last month, International Paper’s packaging business in North America initiated a series of actions to enhance its ability to serve and grow with customers while improving its manufacturing footprint. These actions included investing $250 million to convert the #16 machine at the Riverdale mill in Selma, Ala. to produce containerboard. It also permanently closed its Savannah, Ga., containerboard mill and nearby packaging facility. The Riverdale conversion is on pace to be completed by the end of next September.
